Terms of service
Last updated 12 October 2026
These terms cover sanctionsclear.com, the Sanctions Clear waitlist and the free name check. Sanctions Clear is run by Suite Utils Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. "We" and "us" mean Suite Utils Limited. "You" means the person or business using the site.
What Sanctions Clear is
Sanctions Clear screens names held in your accounting software against public sanctions lists and keeps a record of each check. It is a screening aid. It is not legal advice, and it does not make sanctions decisions for you.
Pre-launch
The product is not on sale yet. Joining the waitlist creates no contract and no charge. When Sanctions Clear opens for your platform we will email you the full subscription terms and prices before you can connect an account or pay for anything. Founder pricing applies to the first customers who subscribe, as described on thepricing page at the time you subscribe.
Your responsibilities
- You decide what to do about a possible or confirmed match. That includes whether to stop a payment, freeze funds or report to an authority.
- You stay responsible for your own sanctions obligations under the laws that apply to you.
- You only submit names you have a legitimate business reason to check.
Lists and accuracy
We download each list from the authority that publishes it, as listed on the about page. OFAC, UK, EU and UN lists are fetched every 6 hours and the others daily. Those lists can contain errors, and authorities sometimes publish changes late. We do not control either.
Matching works on name similarity. It will flag names that belong to someone else (false positives), and it can miss a sanctioned party whose name is spelled in a way the matcher does not recognise. A "no match" result means no entry scored above the threshold at the time of the check. It is not a guarantee that a counterparty is not sanctioned.
When contacts are checked, and what that misses
Once the product launches, a contact is screened when you connect, when it is added or edited, when it appears on a new bill, invoice or other transaction after a list has changed, and in a full rescreen every month. That leaves gaps you should know about:
- A contact with no edits and no transactions is checked against a new designation at the next monthly rescreen, not on the day it is published.
- Dealings that are not recorded in QuickBooks Online or Xero, or are recorded after the fact, are not seen.
- Sanctions Clear alerts you to a possible match. It cannot stop or hold a payment.
The free name check
A free check covers one name, against the lists as they stood when we ran it. The same limits on lists and matching apply. The result shows on the page when the check finishes. If a list was not available at that moment, the result says so.
Liability
The site and the free check are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss caused by relying on a screening result, including fines, penalties or lost business. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Changes to these terms
We will update the date at the top of this page when these terms change. Material changes go to waitlist members by email.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
